Cassidy Barton

As Director of Community Development for Advent GX, Cassidy contributes greatly to collaborative, multi-disciplinary initiatives within the Institute. 

Cassidy Barton focuses on the development of projects and experiences that enhance quality of life and economic vitality. Cassidy has particular expertise in cultural and heritage experience creation and was a key member of the team that created SEAD Gallery, featuring fine artworks by regional artists and presented in partnership with the Arts Council of Brazos Valley. The SEAD Gallery was named after the NSF-supported SEAD network. 

Prior to joining Advent GX, Cassidy served as the Executive Director of the Downtown Bryan Association, providing leadership and logistics support for activities and events Downtown. During her tenure, Cassidy was the face and voice of Downtown, routinely appearing on television and radio promotions. In 2011, she was awarded the Willie Bennett Spirit of Downtown Award for outstanding dedication to Historic Downtown Bryan. Cassidy has extensive knowledge of arts and culture as a foundation for local economic and community development, having contributed to the formation and implementation of programs and venues downtown such as Texas Reds, Lights On, First Friday, Art Step, Rock the Republic, Grand Stafford Theater, the Innovation Underground and SEAD Gallery. Cassidy also draws from her experience with program development in support of heritage preservation through her time with the Heritage Society Museum in Downtown Houston where she served as Program Coordinator from 2005 until 2007. Cassidy has a degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.

The SEAD Gallery (Science Engineering Arts and Design), fully integrated into our private incubator, brings art, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship in support of heritage perservation and economic development.

The SEAD Academy (Science Engineering Arts and Design), fully integrated into our private incubator, offers experiential learning opportuinities to kids ages 5 and above.

DUFi (Distributed Urban Farming Initiative), converting empty lots into eatable landscapes.

Grand Stafford Theater, Live Music (and soon to include Science & Innovation Lectures and a Foreign Film/Dining Series) in support of Heritage Preservation.
